Job Summary: This is a four-week paid training program and is open to those that have little or no phlebotomy or laboratory experience. This innovative program is your first step to a challenging and rewarding healthcare career opportunity at TriCore!
The Phlebotomy Training program provides a paid opportunity for you to learn phlebotomy skills and basic laboratory functions. This training is designed to equip you with best-practices used in the medical laboratory, medical terminology, and hands-on blood drawing and processing blood samples. Required time commitment is 7:00 am-4:00 pm, Monday-Friday for 4 consecutive weeks. This program is from February 23rd - March 20th.

Primary duties include collection and preparation of patient specimens. Obtains the skill of phlebotomy. May perform registration, courier or clerical duties depending on location. May perform and enter results for waived complexity tests and may load specimens on instrumentation for moderate complexity tests depending on location.
1. Must become proficient in phlebotomy.
2. Greets and registers the patient by obtaining patient demographics, billing/insurance information, Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN), collecting co-payments, etc. as needed.
3. Processes requisitions and enters test orders into the computer system. Performs inquiry functions, specimen transport verification, and retrieves and prints collection labels.
4. Receives, processes and/or stores specimens as appropriate, centrifuging, splitting, acidifying, aliquoting, measuring and stabilizing. Ensures that information on the requisition matches labels and that tests ordered are in compliance with physician or clients� requests. Ensures that each test requested is allocated to the proper department, inside or outside of the lab. Performs biohazard disposal as needed or appropriate.
5. Keeps draw stations and phlebotomy trays and equipment clean and well organized.
6. Delivers specimens to the appropriate department within the laboratory.
