Laboratory Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform specific laboratory tests following established quality control and infection control procedures.
• Schedule routine laboratory tests as required.
• Process and schedule laboratory tests ordered by medical staff.
• Locate, handle, and process specimens in accordance with quality control and infection control standards.
• Perform electronic recordkeeping tasks accurately and timely.
• File laboratory and related records in an organized and accurate manner.
• Ensure proper labeling, tracking, and documentation of all specimens.
• Communicate effectively with nursing and medical staff regarding laboratory needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Ensure resident safety at all times while performing all job duties.
• Transport laboratory specimens to the hospital or designated laboratory facility when needed.
• Transport of lab specimens to the hospital when needed.

Qualifications:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be proficient in English (reading, writing, and communication).
• Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
• Must maintain an excellent attendance record.
• Valid driver’s license
• Must have access to a personal vehicle for job-related travel.
