Medical Lab Assistant

Located in Fishersville, Virginia, Blue Ridge Pathologists is a private medical practice which has long been affiliated with Augusta Health. Blue Ridge Pathologists has longstanding roots in Augusta County and surrounding areas in the Shenandoah Valley. We provide a full range of pathology services to Augusta Health as well as to private medical offices throughout western Virginia.

Blue Ridge Pathologists is seeking a Laboratory Assistant who will work under the direction of the practice's Medical Director. The Laboratory Assistant must have interest in learning how to provide assistance in the laboratory to carry out sampling, testing, measuring, recording and analyzing in cooperation with the rest of the lab team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a laboratory environment; however, we are willing to train the right candidate. Primary Job Duties include:

• Responsible for the performance of specific lab tests, primarily processing cytology specimens (body fluids and fine needle aspiration biopsies) and processing/grossing of small biopsy
  specimens.
• Coordinate and participate in all departmental training programs.
• Follow the laboratory's procedure for specimen collection, handling, processing, reporting, and maintaining records of test results.
• Follow the laboratory's quality control policies.
• Adhere to safety policies as defined by the practice and OSHA.
• Provide positive, warm and friendly customer service in all interactions.
• Foster teamwork and a positive, professional atmosphere.
• Complete other duties as directed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate Degree or higher in chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, required
  technology from an accredited institution, required
• Laboratory experience, preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills

HOURS

· Full Time / 40 hours per week, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
