Work hours: Full Time - Evenings, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends, 1400-2230
Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital has a rich history in North Texas serving the local communities of Arlington, Kennedale, Pantego, Mansfield and Grand Prairie. We’re a 369-bed, acute-care, full-service hospital serving our community since 1958. Our location in central Arlington provides convenient care to people in the DFW Metroplex and surrounding areas.
We specialize in comprehensive medical/surgical care, cancer care, women’s services, behavioral health, neurosciences and emergency medicine. Here’s What You Need
- Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred. Individuals hired as a CLS II/CLS Ld prior to January 3, 2010, will be grandfathered to the MLS Ld position with existing education required.
- 4 Years experience/and training in a Medical Laboratory is required
- 2 Years leadership experience preferred
- MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist 6 Months is required Or
- MLS(ASCP) - Medical Lab Scientist 6 Months is required Or
- Other AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology 6 Months is required Or
- M(ASCP) - Microbiology if working in Microbiology 6 Months is required
- BB (ASCP) - Blood Banking if working Blood Bank 6 Months is required
What You Will Do
- Maintains a working knowledge of continuous improvement and applies concepts and processes to the satisfaction of all accrediting agency requirements for the section\: • Assists bench technologist in solving QC and technical problems • Reviews, evaluates and oversees corrective action for monthly QC • Proficiency testing • Oversees distribution, reviews returned results, completes corrective action as needed • Prepares reports for Clinical Pathologist as needed • Participates on CI and Process Improvement teams • Documents review for selected result and/or maintenance logs, billing programs, etc. • Adheres to CAP checklist requirements • Performs ongoing and periodic review of policies and procedures as defined by the Laboratory regulatory agency and revises as needed for compliance • Participates in yearly CAP checklist (interim and 2 year) • Delegate proficiency testing and review results if required by entity Laboratory Operations\: Facilitates workflow process Checks outstanding tests list in a timely manner Troubleshoots and follows through on outstanding tests which appear to have not been collected/received when expected Knows and uses computer downtime procedures as needed when computer is not available Gives proper notification when supplies need to be ordered Utilizes time between testing to accomplish other needed tasks. (evaluation of kits, preparing controls, supply management, housekeeping duties, etc.) Performs tasks in a manner that enhances the quality of care Helps other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care Demonstrates active cost effectiveness
- Maintains technical knowledge and uses technical skills to participate in daily operation of the section including\: • Assumes bench duties as scheduled • Evaluates workload and assists as needed • Research new methods and systems • Assists in technical troubleshooting • Meets continuing education requirements • Prepares and/or assists in bench, daily, weekend and holiday schedules • Makes adjustments for workload, maintenance and unscheduled workflow problems • Maintains all requirements for MLS job code
· Complies with safety, infection prevention, continuous improvement and continuing education programs\: • Adheres to section, laboratory, hospital and system guidelines, procedures and policies • Models compliance behavior in all regulatory requirements • Provides documentation for annual review • Maintains HIPAA requirements at all times
