MRIGlobal is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (PRN / Temporary Part-Time) to provide laboratory support for microbiology, molecular biology, and clinical laboratory programs. This role will primarily support a client program involving microbiological testing and MALDI-TOF analysis, with opportunities to contribute to related laboratory projects. This is a temporary, hourly position expected to support project needs for approximately 18 weeks, primarily on weekends with limited weekday hours as needed.
What You’ll Do
Perform microbiology, molecular biology, and related laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols and client requirements.
Prepare samples, process cultures, perform MALDI-TOF analysis, and verify results while maintaining data quality and scientific integrity.
Analyze and document laboratory data, prepare technical summaries, and maintain accurate scientific records.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and support laboratory readiness.
Follow laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while working independently and collaboratively with technical teams.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field.
Current Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification through ASCP or equivalent.
Knowledge of microbiology laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and data analysis.
Ability to perform laboratory testing accurately and maintain detailed scientific records.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.
