Histotechnologist

Job Description

This is a 13-week contract position for a Histotechnologist at an acute care facility, operating on a night shift from 23:00 to 08:30, Saturday to Thursday. The successful candidate will have significant experience in histology, particularly with grossing, embedding, microtomy, and staining, including automated immunohistochemistry and special stains.

Responsibilities

• Perform grossing of anatomical pathology specimens.
• Assist in embedding, microtomy, and staining processes.
• Handle routine hospital anatomical pathology specimens and cytology samples.
• Prepare slides for staining, including special stains.
• Maintain equipment and ensure laboratory safety protocols are followed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support staff.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• A minimum of 2 years of histology experience, including grossing experience.
• California state licensure preferred; pending licenses accepted.
• Certifications: ASCP-HT (Histotechnician) required.
• Experience with the Epic charting system preferred.

Schedule

Night shift, 5x8-hour schedule: Saturday to Thursday, from 23:00 to 08:30.
