Schedule

Day Shift: 5x8 hours, from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Job Description

The Pathologist Assistant will perform a range of essential functions in hospital clinical laboratories, focusing on the macroscopic examination and dissection of specimens. The role involves tissue preparation and histological processing, as well as obtaining and reviewing patient clinical information.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination and dissection of large and complex specimens.
• Conduct gross examination and dissection of small biopsies.
• Prepare tissues and conduct histological processing.
• Section surgical pathology specimens and ensure proper specimen fixation, receipt, and labeling.
• Engage in tissue sampling for microscopic examination and tumor triage.
• Conduct adult and fetal autopsies as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital clinical laboratory setting.
• ASCP certification as a Pathologist Assistant (PA) is required.
• Traveler experience is required; locals accepted with noted rate difference.
• Preferred: Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Skills in specimen accessioning, frozen section analysis, and postmortem examinations are advantageous.
