Responsibilities
Perform microbial testing and analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
Implement and maintain effective sampling and testing protocols, including media preparation, storage, plating, incubation, and air monitoring.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as hot air ovens, hot plates, incubators, and LAFBs, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
Interpret and report test results accurately, identifying potential issues and recommending corrective actions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to resolve microbial-related issues and implement preventive measures.
Develop and validate new microbial testing methods and procedures to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of our quality control processes.
Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in microbiology, implementing any necessary changes to our testing protocols.
Train and mentor junior staff on proper sampling techniques, equipment handling, and laboratory safety practices.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of all testing activities, ensuring compliance with internal and external auditing requirements.
Support the investigation and resolution of customer complaints related to microbial issues, providing expert insights and recommendations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably in the food or beverage industry.
Strong knowledge of media preparation, storage, sampling, plating, incubation, and air monitoring techniques.
Proficiency in handling laboratory equipment, including hot air ovens, hot plates, incubators, and LAFBs.
Experience with equipment calibration and maintenance is preferred.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
