We are seeking a meticulous and motivated Pharmaceutical Microbiologist to join our established laboratory team at ALS. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced microbiology professional to work within a quality-focused, GMP-compliant environment, delivering high standards of analytical testing to meet client and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timely delivery of microbiological data in line with ISO and GMP standards.

Hours Per Week: 40
Days Per Week: Monday to Friday (08:30 - 17:00) plus weekend work on rota where required
Contract: Permanent and Full Time
Annual Salary Range: £27,000 - £30,000 plus £1000 GMP allowance

Perform microbiological testing strictly in accordance with documented methods and procedures
Conduct plate counting, subculturing, bioburden, water filtration, endotoxin, PET and product suitability testing
Enter and approve results within method and client-defined deadlines
Escalate technical concerns or potential delays to Laboratory Management
Maintain laboratory cleanliness, stock control and correct waste disposal
Complete documentation accurately and legibly
Provide practical and theoretical microbiology training
Comply with Quality Management and Health & Safety procedures
Follow PPE requirements and report incidents or near misses
Support continuous improvement of laboratory safety culture
Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Science, English and Mathematics
Practical and theoretical knowledge of microbiology methodologies
Experience working within a Pharmaceutical Microbiology laboratory or similar regulated environment
Working knowledge of GMP
Proficient in Microsoft Office and LIMS
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload
Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 requirements
Commitment to producing data that meets ISO and GMP standards
