Phlebotomist

Confidential health care system in Sarasota seeks a dependable Phlebotomist to perform blood collections, specimen processing/labeling, and support patient -centered lab operations.

Top responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture/capillary blood draws accurately and compassionately.
  <\/p><\/li>

• Label, process, and transport specimens per policy and chain -of -custody procedures.
  <\/p><\/li>

• Verify patient ID and collect required documentation; maintain strict HIPAA/confidentiality.
  <\/p><\/li>

• Maintain phlebotomy equipment, stock supplies, and follow infection -control protocols.
  <\/p><\/li>

• Document procedures in the LIS/EMR and communicate critical results to nursing/providers per protocol.
  <\/p><\/li>

• Participate in quality control, competency assessments, and departmental training.
  <\/p><\/li><\/ul>

  Required qualifications 
  <\/h2>

  • Strong patient -service skills; calm and professional under pressure.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • MediClear certification (or equivalent credential)  required 
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Familiarity with specimen handling, labeling, infection control, and basic lab safety.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Proficient with EMR/LIS entries and basic computer skills.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Ability to pass background check and any required drug screening; CPR preferred.
