We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Laboratory Manager.
The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the management of the day-to-day running; designing and demonstrating experiments occurring within the Berwick Campus Science laboratories liaising with teachers on curriculum matters and guide Teachers to safer practical outcomes under the direction of the Head of Science.
The successful candidate must have excellent organisational and communication skills. They will possess flexibility to handle multiple tasks and the ability to prioritise their work, with professional attention to detail.
The role
- This is a full time, fixed term leave replacement position
- Commencing 20 July 2026 and concluding 18 September 2026
- Working Monday to Friday, 8.00 am – 4.06 pm
- This position is based at the Berwick Campus
- The ideal candidate will have an Associate Diploma of Laboratory Technology and extensive relevant laboratory experience
- Experience in a school setting is highly advantageous
- This position requires a current employee WWCC and police check
- This position is term time only and you are not required to work during our 13 weeks school holidays
Key tasks
- Support high quality science teaching by designing, preparing, and demonstrating practical experiments in collaboration with Science teachers.
- Manage laboratory operations including preparation of chemicals, maintenance of equipment, glassware, and teaching spaces, and upkeep of scientific resources and registers.
- Ensure workplace health and safety compliance through risk assessments, chemical management (Chemwatch), safety audits, and adherence to legislation and best practice.
- Oversee inventory and resources by ordering, labelling, stocktaking, securing, and coordinating use of chemicals, equipment, and consumables across the Science faculty.
- Provide technical and administrative support including WHS advice to staff, curriculum support, care of living specimens, budgeting input, and assistance with events and fieldwork.
