ESSENTIALS
Tertiary qualified: BSc Honours / MSc in Microbiology or relevant major, with ~ 2 years working experience in a technically related role (preferably sales / customer focused). The ideal candidate will be self-driven, with a strong motivation to succeed, have confidence speaking to customers daily and have outstanding command of the English language. Car and driver’s license essential. **Only GP based candidates to be considered.
Location: Based in Johannesburg (travel is required).

DETAILS
A reputable supplier of scientific instrumentation, consumables, and laboratory solutions is recruiting a technical Laboratory Sales Specialist to support and expand its Water and Microbiology portfolio — a key and rapidly growing area within the business. The successful candidate will act as a dedicated key account manager, taking ownership of customer relationships while driving revenue growth through new and existing clients. Primary responsibilities will include:
- Managing & growing accounts within water, environmental, and microbiology testing sectors
- New business development and revenue generation within the assigned territory
- Preparing quotations and responding to technical and commercial enquiries
- Conducting product demonstrations and technical presentations
- Providing after-sales support and technical assistance on instrumentation and consumables
- Maintaining accurate CRM records, sales statistics, and reporting
- Liaising with suppliers, admin, and internal support teams to ensure seamless service delivery
- JHB-based, with domestic travel required and occasional international travel as needed.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- BSc Honours / MSc in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry/related discipline
- Lab experience within environmental/ water/ food testing environments
- ~ 2 years’ working experience preferably in a sales / customer environment
- Strong technical aptitude and high attention to detail
- Confident communicator, well spoken & articulate, with strong interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, well-organised, happy to manage a sales territory independently
- Valid driver’s licence, own vehicle, valid passport and willingness to travel
- South African citizens only, already based in Gauteng Province.
