Introduction

Are you a detail-oriented laboratory professional looking to make your mark in a dynamic lubricants manufacturing environment? We are seeking a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Quality Control team.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the testing of blends, filling samples, bulk finished product receipts, and raw material receipts within our lubricants laboratory. The successful candidate will also assist the QC Manager in investigating quality incidents at the plant.

Duties & Responsibilities

Testing

  • Conduct all testing activities in a safe and reliable manner
  • Perform analyses on blend samples, filling samples, bulk receipt finished products, and raw materials (drummed and bulk) to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Report all non-conformances to the Laboratory Supervisor
  • Prioritise test sampling activities in line with operational demands, without compromise to product integrity
  • Record results legibly for approval and reporting
  • Assist the Laboratory Supervisor with internal calibrations and verification of instruments to ensure accurate and reliable results

 

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant ASTM/IP methods and customer-specific requirements (e.g., QP&G)
  • Perform Statistical Quality Control (SQC) testing to ensure instrument performance
  • Test and report Proficiency Testing Scheme/Round Robin samples
  • Participate in the implementation of quality-related continuous improvement projects within the laboratory and across production processes

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
  • BSc Degree or BTech in Chemistry
  • At least 3 – 5 years' progressive experience in a laboratory environment
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Syspro
  • Knowledge of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) 
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
