Medical Technologist - High Complexity Testing

Location

This position is based in a hospital laboratory setting.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shifts may be needed for day or night, with on-call shifts required as part of 24-hour laboratory coverage.

Job Description

Under minimal supervision, the Medical Technologist applies advanced technical skills and seasoned judgment to independently provide a full range of sample test analyses and laboratory services. The role involves performing CLIA defined high complexity testing, handling a diverse patient population including infants, children, and geriatrics.

Responsibilities

• Perform all levels of high complexity testing and evaluate test results for accuracy.
• Resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with quality control standards.
• Develop and review department procedures using CLSI format.
• Train new employees and provide ongoing education and support to laboratory staff.
• Assist with inventory management and ensure adequate supply levels.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• One year of progressive clinical experience or a hospital internship after obtaining the degree.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (AMT) or equivalent.
