Mid Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, with every third weekend required.

Job Description

The Medical Technologist will be primarily working in the Blood Bank and Transfusion Service. The position requires a strong background in blood bank procedures and the ability to handle complex antibody identifications, emergency releases, and massive transfusion protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex blood bank testing and procedures.
• Manage emergency releases and massive transfusion protocols.
• Conduct antibody typing, crossmatching, and other blood bank tests.
• Interact with clinical staff regarding transfusion requirements.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical rotations in a Medical Technology school.
• 4 years of experience in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science.
• Recent dedicated experience in Blood Bank is mandatory; Generalist experience is not qualified.
• Active NJ or Compact license required at the time of submission.
• ASCP certification preferred (e.g., ASCP-BB, ASCP-MLS, ASCP-MLT).
